Mumbai Calling! – Press Three for Sight Seeing…
I’ve managed to get some sleep 🙂 After a very long week in the office, it’s finally time to do some weekend sight seeing! Yes I’ve woken up late, missed breakfast at the hotel, and my car for the morning to take me sight seeing… Not good for a diabetic! So I have a limited window available, the hotel arranged another car for me, and a smaller itinerary than originally planned!
First stop! Shaniwar Wada, the ancient fort in Pune, the building is an impressive feat of construction given its location. It cost 100 rupee’s (less then $2) for entrance to the fort and once you’re in, you can walk around the gardens, or around the battlements of the fort itself (Be prepared for very steep stone steps!, there aren’t any lifts if you are unable to climb unaided).
The views from the fort and the garden, in my opinion are amazing, there’s a music stand to the back of the garden where in the evening they put on a light show to music, and just by the entrance there’s a rather ornate canon. I guess if you were going to war/defending yourself, it’s important that the weapon looks pretty *hmmm*…
If you’re near Pune do take the time to visit this landmark.
